A New Day… A New Dawn

Every single day of our lives is a new dawn, an opportunity to make things brand new. What has been done in the past is forever gone… the dawn issues an opportunity to become something totally anew. You could have been a crook yesterday and become a saint today. You may have practiced wickedness yesterday and today behave like an angel. With every morsel of passing time, there is this opportunity to be totally different. Not everyone can see the opportunity… even worse they do not relish the opportunity to take advantage of what IS possible.

To be fair change usually comes gradually over a long period of time through small increments of growth. Old habits die hard! To become anew you have to first shed the old. Both cannot live in the same space. It comes down to which wolf you fed the most. The one you fed the most will grow the fastest and the strongest. The ones that cannot fight to receive nourishments will usually die from starvation. Nature seems cruel at times when you see a little scrawny pup of a litter die because the other pups would not allow it to suckle from the mother’s breast. Perhaps nature knows something that we don’t. Only the strong survive in order to perpetuate the species. It appears a new wolf pup did not have the opportunity to survive and get a chance to become a grown predator terrorizing and devouring other prey. The wolf you feed the most survives while the other ones suffer or die. This would apply to our predatory habits as well.

With each passing day, you have an opportunity to feed the habits that you wish to keep. The ones that you know aren’t good should be allowed to suffer and die so the entire body can become more prosperous. The parts of our character that are not good should be allowed to dwindle away. There is a wild predator living in you as well as an innocent lamb. You must be willing to separate the two even though they are both equally you. When the desire to change becomes serious to you… there is divine help that will give you the strength and courage to do what is necessary. When you desire to imitate God’s character, God’s character comes to your rescue. You were created to be like Him in that very respect. The fruit of His Spirit has a very pleasant aroma that attracts Him to you.

When you wake up in the morning and look into the mirror, what do you see looking back at you? Do you like what you see? Are you proud of that person? I’m not talking about the physical body you see on the outside, but the inner person. You can change the otter shell but your core reflects who you really are. That is what God sees in you. Ask Him if you might borrow His view of you for a moment so you can see what He sees in you. When your image is revealed… will you summon the courage to starve those wicked wolves that may have made a home in you? If God would not be proud of certain parts of your character then that is what really matters. The sum of all the days your life on Earth comes down to what your Heavenly Father thinks of you. He would prefer that you feed your higher angels and starve the ravenous wolves all together but He would settle for starving the worst of your flaws first so the entire body can become healthy enough to release the rest of the wild pack out into the wilderness.

Again, every single day of our lives is the dawn of a brand new opportunity to become someone totally new and refreshing. God has eternity to wait on you, but in your present form, you don’t. When you are gone what would you like others to say about you? Even more importantly, what would you like God to say about you? Would He say, “job well done my dear child?” Would you even say to the person in the mirror, “I gave it my all and I did my best.” If not this new dawn is just for you. Right now… in this very moment you can become totally brand new from inside out.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:” God was calling the world back to Himself through His Son.

A new creation made in the likeness of God to be like Him in character… to be someone that would make any parent proud or to even become satisfied with yourself rather than live with regrets? We don’t need to wait until the hereafter to see where we stand with God. He will show you in the “hear-and-now,” where you stand with Him. When, or if it really matters to you… it has always mattered to the One that blew the breath of life into your mortal body.

For you, and I, and everyone alike… every single moment is an opportunity to be made right with God… and… it is not up to us alone to make that happen. Christ told us:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

I tend to take Him at His word because right at this very moment He sits in His rightful position at the right hand of Almighty God, His Father, your Father, and my Father. I see no reason why He would tell us that if it weren’t true. By faith and trust I believe in Him.

Today, right in this very “NOW” moment is a new day and the dawn of a new opportunity to become someone totally new and refreshing with the aroma of God emanating from your soul. What a shame it would be to waste such an opportunity of a lifetime plus eternity? This is the dawn of a brand new day! Selah!
